The Farmers Truck
CoFounder & CEO
Moncton, CA
Fred was born and raised on a small-town farm in Atlantic Canada. After quitting school at the age of 14 and battling drug addiction, he was admitted into rehab. A year later, sobriety in hand, he went on to finish high school, study graphic design and launched his own design agency which he ran for many years. One day he met a young farmer struggling to get his product to market and decided to launch The Farmers' Truck, a mobile farmers' market as a way to increase fresh, local food access in his community. Now he's on a mission to share what he learned and empower organizations to do the same.

About The Farmers' Truck: The Farmers' Truck started as a mobile farmers' market back in 2015. The organization launched a second truck in 2016, an online store with home deliveries in 2017. Their intention was to make this initiative a for-profit model, but with the very short growing season in Canada and a lack of social impact funds in the region, they hit a wall and had to pivot. It turns out the mobile market design is quite popular and Farmers’ Truck knows very well the challenges with designing such a vehicle, so they started offering their services. Fast forward to 2021 - they have sold many mobile markets across North-America and are launching 3 mobile market pilots in California this year.
