A Florida native, but at last home in the great State of Texas, Shaleiah is an advocate & philanthropist, who has worked to turn her personal story with the foster care system into positivity, give voice to community, and create spaces where women can thrive personally & professionally. She holds Masters Degrees in social work & public administration and policy and focused graduate research & volunteer work on addressing the gaps in services for aging out foster youth. For the last 10 years, Shaleiah’s worked in upper management in the public & private sectors, founded a local non-profit, Fresh Chefs Society, (teaches young adults in foster care to cook, work in the food industry, and create a life they own and value through food) & oversees fundraising for Black Studies at UT Austin. A rooted member of her community, Shaleiah serves on numerous boards & committees of non-profits supporting young leaders in Austin. A committed partner & mother of two, her heart & life are full.
